Helping to promote a safe, healthy and environmentally friendly alternative form of transportation for the residents of Carol Stream.

The Klein Creek Trail is a trail concept developed by Carol Stream Bikes, an organization dedicated to improving bicycling and walking conditions for Carol Stream residents. Carol Stream walkers, joggers, and bicyclists are encouraged to participate in developing this concept!

Where?

  • From the Great Western Trail to Lies Road, a distance of about 3.25 to 3.5 miles and along Klein Creek (in blue, at right)
  • Passing through or near Memorial Park, Armstrong Park, Mitchell Lakes Park, and Veterans Park. Schools too!

Why?

  • It will provide you a safe place to run, walk or bike, away from heavy traffic!
  • Trails may increase the value of your home!
  • Creating this trail allows us to make specific requests for improvements along the trail, like better crosswalks and more ways to slow down traffic.

How? Trailblazing in 3 steps…

  1. Public meetings to discuss the various on-road trail alternatives (in orange, at right)
  2. Creation of a short report for the boards of the Village and the Park District:
    • Should the trail stay close to the creek, or should it pass by schools to make walking and biking to school safer?
    • How could I more safely cross Kuhn Road? Lies Road? Elk Trail?
  3. The responsible government entities can then move to implement the trail and plan for future improvements!
